Deleted the wrong thing, or saved over it? In most cases you can get it back yourself in under a minute, without anyone's help.
Step by step
- Check the recycle bin. In OneDrive or the SharePoint site in a browser, click Recycle bin in the left-hand menu. Tick the file and choose Restore. It goes back where it was.
- Check the second-stage bin. If it is not there, scroll to the bottom of the recycle bin page and open the second-stage recycle bin. Site owners can restore from there.
- For a file you saved over. Do not look in the recycle bin - the file still exists. Right-click it, choose Version history, open an earlier version and restore it.
- Restore a whole folder. In OneDrive, use Restore your OneDrive under the settings cog to roll your files back to an earlier point in time.
If it does not go to plan
- Deleted items are kept for a limited period, so act sooner rather than later.
- If the file is past that window, contact us - it may still be in a backup.
