If you would rather use the Mail app that comes with your iPhone than the Outlook app, your Microsoft 365 account can be added as an Exchange account. The steps below are for recent versions of iOS; the menu names move around slightly between versions.
Step by step
- Open your mail settings. Open Settings, then Apps and Mail on newer versions of iOS, or just Mail on older ones.
- Add an account. Tap Mail Accounts, then Add Account, then Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your details. Type your work email address, and a description such as "Work". Tap Next.
- Choose Sign In, not Configure Manually. Tap Sign In so your phone uses the proper Microsoft sign-in page.
- Sign in and approve. Enter your password on the Microsoft page and approve the multi-factor prompt.
- Choose what to sync. Turn on Mail, and Contacts, Calendars and Reminders if you want them, then tap Save.
If it does not go to plan
- Sign-in is refused: some workplaces only allow the Outlook app. If you get a message about your organisation's policy, use Outlook instead.
- Mail stops updating after a password change: go back into Settings and sign in again.
